While humic acid is still a relatively new concept that is not professionally involved in agriculture and horticulture and is not generally available, except through the Internet or direct mail outlets, there is no denying the great benefits it offers for all types of soils and plants.
Humic acid is the commercial term often used to refer to the combined Humic and fulvic acid in decomposed naturally occurring plant and animal residues. Most bio-chemically active humic acid is derived from Leonardite Coal from humified animal and vegetable waste from thousands of years.
Humic acid is effective in improving the quality of all types of soils, especially clay and sandy soils and ecologically poor soils. The introduction of humic acid on clay or other compacted soils, which results in the dissolution of the soil, the more water and penetration. In sandy soils, humic acid adds essential organic matter back into the soil so that water for a better and deeper root development, which are both not on sandy soils.
