What Soil Mix Do I Use To Grow Cucumbers And Tomatoes In Pots On My Patio?

Specifically I am looking for a soil mix I can buy from Wal-mart or other supplier that is the best for growing tomatoes and cucumbers in large 16 inch pots. I have been told not to use regular garden soil or much top soil. I plan to grow the cucumbers on a vertical frame. Your advice is much appreciated.

Get a Organic one. It is in a brown bag there. That one works great for fruit & veggies.

Top soil works fine.If you want to mix in some compost, peat or sand is fine too.You will have to go by trial and error,as all the growing conditions will define how your plants grow.Tomatoes and peppers are not hard and will grow with care in most any soil.

potting soil/mix is what youre looking for. miracle gro makes several different size bags. i would also suggest only planting one tomato per pot.

Tomatoes are not very fussy. I would think the best thing for them would be Miracle Grow dirt.
