My mom does lots of composting and i must tell you that many things can be composted. here are the most important items.
Any fruits and veggies are great.
Any from Kleenex to Scott towel EVEN toilette paper is great for composting. Do you drink coffee because if you do next time you throw out your coffee put both the filter and the grains in your compost it works great. Now this are only things i see my mom do there are many many more stuff.
U just gotta be creative, And i wish you good luck on your project.
Bye for now.
Well, the most obvious thing is that you want to use ORGANIC materials. Inorganic, like plastics, metal, etc, won’t work, because they take too long to compost or dissolve, if at all.
Egg shells, coffee grounds, old vegetables & salad are good things to use. You also want to use some dirt. You might place some dirt at bottom, add the veggies, egg, etc, then add some more dirt over it.
The dirt above helps to compact it and covers it so it doesn’t smell as the organics begin to break down.
Only trouble is that composting usually takes a long time, like a few months. I’m not sure if there’s a “quick” compost method. I have to admit, I’m stumped by that one, but the importnat thing is to use organic materials, like foods or even dried leaves, but not grass clippings.. Obviously, a styrofoam cup is pretty small, so you’d most likely have to chop up the materials or foods so that you can get them into the cups more evenly.
Good luck.
A few people have touched on different things you need to do, so I’ll outline it for you.
1. Must be Organic
2. Chop it up as small as you can
3. Cover the top of the cup
4. Leave in warm location or under a heat lamp(not to close)
5. Dig up some worms in the garden or steal from your friends worm farm and add to the cups.
The best smal compost can come from your kitchen wate and garden surplus. The best is organic stuff as listed in

Don’t forget to chop it small as you want it a quick compost pile.
you need to have a much bigger pile than what you’ve described. it must have some mass to it so it starts to decay in the center. a small one would never build up the temp necessary
